• Born and raised in Norfolk Virginia

• Her husband of 25 years and I have three children and 8 beautiful grandchildren. As a banker for the past 27 years I love working with people from all walks of life and providing them with financial solutions to make their lives better

• SAWA has been a blessing in my life. I’ve met so many wonderful people and feel privileged to be a part of something that provides so much to our community. I know we really make a difference in the lives of so many. I love being a part of such a wonderful organization


Ellen Tolliver


• Raised in Virginia Beach

• Married to Lee Tolliver and we reside in Camden County, North Carolina along with my Miniature Australian Shepherd, Oliver

• Employed with Southern Bank and Trust as a Portfolio Manager, and also a Travel Agent for Travel Pros

• Enjoys traveling to Mexico and Jamaica to relax on their beautiful beaches and relaxing by our pool with friends

• Was invited to a SAWA luncheon by Linda Tedesco and joined immediately, serving on the Membership Committee, Chairing the Nominating Committee, and now serving as Secretary. She enjoys serving SAWA knowing she’s making a difference in people’s lives, and it’s a great feeling

• Native of Virginia Beach. She has one son and two grandchildren that live in Seattle, Washington

• She’s been retired from federal government for 3 years after having worked as an accountant for 42 years with the Navy

• Although she loved my job she never knew that retirement could be so wonderful

• She joined the Salvation Army because her friend Marina Allen was a member and she always felt that the projects she talked about were something she would like to be involved with

• SAWA is a wonderful way to do service for others as well as meet new friends

• Born and raised in Redlands, CA

• Moved to Virginia Beach in 1992

• Owner and Event Development Manager of Main Stream Events and PR firm specializing in Corporate, Non-Profit Gala’s, Social events and community resources

• She has been volunteering for The Salvation Army for the past 15 years and was asked to join SAWA in 2013 and is the Communications Co-Chair and keeps members informed for upcoming events and meetings with the newsletters and the SAWA Facebook page

Martha Ambler

Service Co-Chair

• Married to Tom and mother of two young adults. She has lived in Norfolk since 1987

• Worked as a CPA, both in public accounting and for several nonprofits

• Currently concentrating on volunteer work, primarily with the Salvation Army and her church. She is a member of the Salvation Army’s Advisory Board

• Joined SAWA a few years ago after meeting some of the women while volunteering at the Christmas Depot and has enjoyed serving alongside so many wonderful women

• She grew up in Illinois. Moved to Virginia in 1980

• Wife to Dave, Mother of three sons, Grandmther of 9

• Shaklee Independent Distributor for 28 years

• Officer and member of Business Network International

• President, Membership chair, Vice President and 1st Counselor of Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary and on board for 4 years

• Manages care for 89 year old mom

• Enjoys re-purposing old dishes, reading and traveling

• Donna chose working with the Salvation Army initially because her friends were involved. She soon learned what a tremendous asset the Army is to the community and she wanted to partner with them as her way of giving back to the community

• Owner of High Note Trips, a music student travel coordination company

• Long term resident of Ocean View

• Widowed; with two sons, 9 grandchildren and 1 grandchild, all out of state

• Also cater in her spare time for friends

• Blessed by Salvation Army in her community and her world!

• Member of SAWA for 5 plus years and on the bell ringing committee


Jessica Salazar

Kettle Program Co-Chair

• Started in the financial services industry as a stockbroker for a hedge fund in Daytona Beach. After moving to Virginia Beach, joined Northwestern Mutual and has been with Northwestern Mutual for over 9 years. I am the Managing Director of the Virginia beach office and a Wealth Management advisor

• Married to Jeff Salazar for almost 6 years and have one son names Austin who is 14

• Loves staying active and do Crossfit and Roller Derby for fun

• Loves helping the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary in Hampton roads since it was founded. I have served a few positions. My favorite is the Kettle Committee. We collect money that does good all over the community in many ways. It is a fun group of women with big hearts
