SAWA provides women with the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people in our community. In the process, members find valuable friendships, improved mental and physical health by helping others, a place to give of their talents and skills, and achieve a deep satisfaction that only comes from serving others.
We strive to be a friendly organization where we talk to those we don’t know, before we talk to those we do, so that all feel welcome, encouraged and relevant.
As a member of the Auxiliary, you will be among influential and active community leaders, people with their hearts in the community, and their minds determined to make a difference. You will receive a personalized name badge and your name & contact information (with permission) will be noted in the SAWA directory.
The membership year is from January to January. All members will receive ongoing notification of events, projects, activities and opportunities to serve.
Two levels of membership are offered:
- Corporate/Organizational Member – $200 annual payment
- Individual Member – $50.00 annual payment
All members are expected to be present at the regular monthly meetings and be actively involved in ongoing events and activities. This participation promotes fellowship and ownership of the organization. Regular monthly meetings are held the third Monday of the month unless it is a holiday at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center: 1401 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk, Va. 23504.
